4 ways you can begin to shift from anxious to awesome

Has 2020 felt like a rollercoaster?

As you navigate any new challenges this year has brought you it’s important to strengthen your feel good muscles. Make the below four shifts a priority and you’ll begin to feel the anxiety you are carrying in your mind and body feel less and less heavy. Think of each one of these as a practice. The more you practice, the better you feel.

  1. One breath at a time. It sounds cheesy but it's true. How often do you tune into your breath and feel it entering and exiting your lungs? Start checking in with yourself several times a day. Remember - just because this sounds easy, doesn’t mean it’s ineffective. Your breath has the ability to heal and transform all things out of balance and bring quick ease.

  2. Spend time in places you love. Where’s somewhere you can go for five minutes today that makes you happy? Is it a parking lot that overlooks a beach, park, lake, trees, field of flowers? Is it a building that has amazing architecture? Is it an open space with a view of the moon?

  3. Surround yourself with uplifting people. It might be the barista you order coffee from or people at the dog park. Put yourself in the proximity of people with positive energy. Let this outweigh the time spent around negative personalities.

  4. Start making feeling good a priority. Carve out time each day - even 10 minutes to focus on an activity that is good for you. It might be watching a healthy cooking tutorial on YouTube, reading a self-discovery book, or taking a feel good class with individuals that also want to make feeling good a priority.
